Billing themselves as the best Italian restaurant in town, they offer genuine freshly prepared Italian cuisine at an affordable price. The atmosphere is informal and bustling with a colourful deli at the entrance. We loved it! (£36.50) map

BAROLO GRILL - 92-94 Mitchell Street, City Centre - The Barolo Grill is the latest new venture from the restauranteurs who have brought us Cafe Andaluz and Amarone. The interior is very smart, yet welcoming and cosy. They specialise in quality Scottish steaks, meats and seafood served with a contemporary Italian touch. One not to miss. (£37.50) map

THE DRAKE - 1 Lynedoch Street, Charing Cross - This restaurant was once the upper floor of a large Victorian townhouse. The restaurant areas still have the original period features including original fireplaces and cornicing giving a very special ambience. DON COSTANZO - 13 Woodside Crescent, Charing Cross - This new family run restaurant is owned by Costanzo Cacace who formerly owned the long established Caprese Restaurant. Housed in a cosy basement in the Park district it provides the perfect setting for an authentic Italian trattoria experience. Costanzo prides himself in top quality Italian cuisine using the freshest of seasonal produce. (£39.50) map
